The United Nations will convene the SDG Summit on 18-19 September 2023 at its Headquarters in New York, during the General Assembly high-level week. With the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at midpoint, world leaders will carry out a comprehensive review of the state of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), respond to the impact of multiple and interlocking crises facing the world, and provide high-level political guidance on transformative and accelerated actions towards the target year of 2030.
To generate additional opportunities for the engagement of all actors, the United Nations is convening an SDG Action Weekend on 16-17 September 2023 which will consist of the SDG Mobilization Day on Saturday, 16 September, and the SDG Acceleration Day on Sunday, 17 September, at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
During the UN Sustainable Development Goals Action Weekend, on the eve of the SDG Summit, the ILO will co-host a session on the Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection, as part of SDG Acceleration Day on Sunday 17 September.
One of a series that will highlight the 12 High-Impact Initiatives designed to accelerate progress on the SDGs, the event will convene representatives from pathfinder countries, development partners, international financing institutions, and social partners to generate high-level political support and national commitments, as well as financial pledges, to the Global Accelerator country-level roadmaps prioritizing employment and social protection.
