India, one of the fastest-growing economies worldwide, experiences significant vulnerability to climate change as well as challenges in transitioning to an environmentally sustainable economy and society. Declining employment in some sectors, growing job opportunities in others and socio-economic impacts on people highlight the need to manage the allocation of benefits, including through social protection linked to skills development and employment promotion, for a just transition in India.
